![]() Usually the second mission is where stuff gets weirder in terms of map generation. ![]() In general, every "first mission" has an option to change your secret tech, as far as I can tell (although I do not know the trigger for D'var). Yes, the earlier maps are basically just random generated maps with some guaranteed sectors on them and a handful of quests. I have a pretty big post on this subreddit, kinda my "Captain's log" about how my campaign run went. I guess it's a bit early to say how difficult the other campaigns are, but my interest is really dropping from the bland map design and the ezpz difficulty. Starting the dvar campaign now and it seems like the first map is full of allies once again. Really easy if your heroes have decent mods. 1 enemy on the first map if you choose alliance, and on the 2nd map you just have to kill one player to win. I do like the fact that you have more choices to make in Planetfall, but not sure why they would abandon the map design like that.Īlso the kirko maps were insanely easy. ![]() I don't know, it's just that AOW3 had some memorable maps in terms of map design while planetfall just feels like someone chucked it in a random generator. I feel like I'm just going through 4 different maps with slightly different continents and water content. I've played through the vanguard and kirko campaign now, and the maps don't feel customised at all.
